2024 Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award
The Range Science Education Council (RSEC) and the Society for Range Management (SRM) proudly present the 2024 Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award to Dr. Marc Horney of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. This award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching, advising, and mentoring over an extended period, often a career.
Dr. Horney has been actively engaged in teaching, advising and mentoring undergraduate students for over 20 years. In that time, he has developed, taught and revised and re-taught many, many courses; developed and revised range curricula; and helped students initiate a range club. His teaching philosophy is guided by a commitment to cultivate in students, an appreciation for the value of collecting sound evidence, documenting it well, and representing it honestly. Students and colleagues clearly hold Dr. Horney in high esteem as evidenced by their comments:
