2023 Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award

Dr. Kasey DeAtley

The Range Science Education Council (RSEC) and the Society for Range Management (SRM) proudly present the 2023 Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award to Dr. Kasey DeAtley of California State University, Chico. This award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching, advising, and mentoring over an extended period, often a career.

Over the past 17 years, Dr. DeAtley has taught an impressive diversity of courses in rangeland ecology and management, animal science, agriculture issues and agricultural experimentation. In 2014, she began advising and consistently advises over 50 undergraduate students each semester. Dr. DeAtley’s commitment to undergraduate education is rounded out by her active mentoring of several student organizations and clubs in both range management and animal science. Students and colleagues consistently highlight Dr. DeAtley’s enthusiastic teaching, commitment to high-quality experiential learning and her dedication to high impact teaching/learning practices. Impressively, a colleague recently recounted that Dr. DeAtley’s potential for teaching excellence was obvious as early as her own undergraduate years!
